Heart Church — We Are Starting A Church

It’s been a hot minute since I published my writing and I’m so thankful for every email, direct message, and text that said, “Where are you?” or “We miss you.” I’ve been wrapping up my bachelor’s degree in Theology, working a full-time job (which was such a surprise!), and transitioning into a new role as a co-lead pastor. It’s my prayer that this blog post fills you with inspiration and excitement as you read. We, Trevin, Stephanie, Boston, and Brecken Anderson are about to embark on an amazing adventure.

After much prayer, input from church leaders and family, and no small amount of confirmation from God, we are starting a church in McKinney, Texas! We’re calling it Heart Church and it launches in September of 2022.

Several months ago, we were challenged by a leader we respect to consider planting a church. He backed up this challenge by reminding us of our strong family legacy, Bible college training, prior church planting experience, diverse spiritual giftings, and our heart for people. We were jokingly dubbed, “Most likely to plant a church.”

But human reasoning is not sufficient for a step this bold, it’s a calling that must originate from the heart of God. So, we immediately went to prayer and sought further counsel.

The process included a trip to McKinney, Texas, home to several of Trevin’s extended family. Almost immediately we sensed God inviting us to be part of something He has already begun. In fact, just hours after saying those words out loud, one of our prayer partners sent those very words to us in a text!

God’s heart is for humanity and our mission is to lead people closer to the heart of God. We already have a vision for Heart Church. It will be known for its Spirit-filled expression in every area of ministry, especially in the worship culture. We’ll strive for excellence in our children’s and youth ministries. We’ll celebrate the development of men and women in leadership. And we’re committed to developing a dynamic creative community, and innovative business community to help reach the thousands of people who are relocating from the West Coast.

It is estimated that more than 200,000 people will relocate to the McKinney area and further north. McKinney is projected to soon become the second-largest metro area in all of Texas.

We are honored and so excited to play a part in the story God is writing for the area NE of Dallas. We’d love to invite you to be part of God’s dream within the Heart Church family, please consider lifting us up in prayer and following the story.

P.S. My friends! Thank you for your patience as I’ve taken a break from writing and speaking to graduate with excellence and to process our transition. I have read every email, every direct message, and the texts that you have sent asking where I went. I’m grateful for your kindness. It is truly an honor to encourage you! (One that I don’t take lightly.) And I’m BAAAAACK!

Cheering you on towards Jesus and his plans for your life. - SA
